Instructions: How to Use The 10-Piece Wheel Stud / Bolt Master Re-Thread Set - LT992
External Wheel Stud Re-Thread Instructions:
- Utilize the included thread gauge by setting it up tight against the vehicle wheel mounting stud or bolt to determine the correct size.
- Select the correct die or tap as determined by the thread gauge.
- If using a die, gently spread the two halves apart using the elasticity of the O-ring to keep it intact. Place the die at the beginning of the stud threads protruding from the wheel mounting flange.
- Set the die on the stud by aligning the two halves while releasing the tension on the O-ring until the dies seat properly in the thread. When seated properly, there should be a slight gap between the two halves. Place a drop of oil on the stud. (TIP – lightly oil the inside of the 2-pin socket adapter to ease assembly)
- Place the special precision 2-pin socket adapter over the split die.
- Turn the adapter counterclockwise to draw the split die over the thread to clean or restore a damaged portion of the wheel stud.
- Use brake cleaner or suitable parts cleaner to remove any debris left from the cleaning/restoration process.
Internal Wheel Bolt Re-Thread Tap Instructions:
- The design of the internal wheel bolt re-threader allows the tap tool to meticulously repair the internal threading.
- Keep the re-threader tap well lubricated to assist the threads to reform and to collect any metal debris.
- Once the re-thread tool is inserted into the stud hole, steadily turn clockwise, then counterclockwise to restore the threads.
- Use brake cleaner or suitable parts cleaner to remove any debris left from the cleaning/restoration process.
- The internal wheel stud re-thread job is complete.
